Mohammad Ashraf Ghani listened to the reports of programs, performances and activities of the NEPA. Via video conference

At the beginning of the video conference, Schah-Zaman Maiwandi , Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency, while presenting a brief report on the most important activities and achievements of the agency, thanked the President for his special attention to environmental issues.
Then Idris Malyar, the former Deputy Director of Policy and International Relations of NEPA, who has just resigned; presented, The most important achievements of the office in the field of international cooperation, especially the attraction of financial aid from various sources, including the Green Climate Fund, and the President appreciated Mr. Malyars efforts to attract international aid.
Subsequently, Head of the National Ozone Program, presented a brief report to the President on the progress made in obtaining a license from the National Implementing Agency, which is jointly funded by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and the Afghanistan Green Climate Fund.
Later, Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, presented a report on the most important achievements of the financial and administrative sector to His Excellency the President, and mentioned the reform of the logistics sector, ensuring transparency and improving human resource capacity as important achievements of this office.
Then, Deputy Director of Professional Affairs of the National Environmental Protection Agency, gave information about the activities and achievements of the professional sector and presented the report of the relevant implementation to the President. He considered the announcement of several areas as protected areas, improving the process of environmental monitoring, modifying and changing the method of issuing environmental permits, creating and strengthening the legal framework for environmental activities as the most important achievements of this sector.
Then, after hearing the report of the leadership of the National Environmental Protection Agency, ‎‎His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said that environmental protection is one of the ‎‎priorities of the government and it must be propelled from a project-oriented approach to a ‎program-oriented way.‎with the cooperation of the international ‎community.
Appreciating the agency's activities in securing good relations with the Green Climate Fund and attracting international aid, the President said that now we have a clear roadmap for using the GCF funds and He thanked the National Environmental Protection Agency to develop the plan. He added that Afghanistan is the 17th country in the world whose environment is endangered and there should be extensive planning to reduce the effects of climate change and adapt to this phenomenon.
The President added that the environment is one of the most important sectors of the country and instructed to work on environmental plans and programs according to the availability of international resources in the field of preventing air pollution. Continue to focus on forest protection, sapling, water management and other environmental areas, and have important plans in this regard.
Appreciating the mobility created in the National Environmental Protection Agency, His Excellency ‎the President said: "More work is needed to be done, he also guided to coordinate with the ‎municipalities and that we can have a clear view and do more work in the field of environmental ‎protection and various natural threats, including drought. ‎
At the end of his speech, His Excellency the President, while appreciating the efforts of Idris Malyar, the former Deputy Director of Policy in International Relations of the Office, wished him success in fulfilling his next responsibilities.
