NEPA conducts a consultative meeting entitle “Prioritization Criteria for Afghanistan’s Identified Project Ideas for the Green Climate Fund”

The National Environmental Protection Agency held a consultative ‎meeting entitled "Criteria for Prioritization of Projects Identified by the ‎Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the Green Climate ‎Fund" chaired by Schah Zaman Maiwandi, Director General of NEPA. ‎Representatives of relevant government ministries and agencies and ‎multilateral implementing agencies (MIEs) participated in the meeting in Band Amir Hall of this office.‎
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Maiwandi thanked the ‎representatives of the relevant government ministries and agencies and ‎multilateral implementing agencies for their efforts in preparing and ‎finalizing the subject matter of the projects identified by the Government ‎of Afghanistan for the Green Climate Fund. And said that "Afghanistan is ‎a Country with weak economic and is vulnerable to climate change, and ‎more effort is needed to be done to combat this phenomenon."‎
Mr. Maiwandi also referred to the role of developed countries in reducing ‎the effects of climate change on the world stage and the establishment of ‎global financial mechanisms for climate change and added that the ‎developed countries Pledged to establish global climate change finance ‎mechanisms to support developing and less developed countries in order ‎to be resilient to the effects of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas ‎emissions. "‎
During the meeting, the technical team of the National Environmental ‎‎Protection Agency presented a presentation from the recent ‎‎developments in finalizing the subject of Afghanistan's identified projects ‎‎for the Green Climate Fund and their prioritization process in accordance ‎‎with national policies, programs, and capital standards for The Green ‎‎Climate Fund. They provided information, answered the questions and ‎ ‎criticisms of the representatives of relevant departments.‎
At the end of the meeting, prioritization criteria for Afghanistan’s identified project ideas for the GCF were approved by the representatives of the relevant government ministries and agencies and multilateral implementing institutions.
