Inauguration of the First Implementation Workshop the Conservation of Snow Leopards and their Critical Ecosystem in Afghanistan

Synchronous of snow leopard international day the First Implementation Workshop the Conservation of Snow Leopards and their Critical Ecosystem in Afghanistan inaugurated in Band-e-Amir Conference room of National Environmental Protection Agency on October 22, 2019.

Schah-Zaman Maiwandi Director General of National Environmental Protection Agency had the leadership of this workshop and Napilon Novaro Assistant of UNDP in Afghanistan, Reperesintave of WCS, GEF and Representative of close Ministers participated in this workshop.

Mr. Maiwandi started this workshop with his speech and he thanked those national and International helpers and close directorates that they help this agency in the concept and design of this project.

He added: Afghanistan is vulnerable in the section of climate change and annihilation of life diversity.
The main goal of this project is conservation of snow leopards in Afghanistan and with implementing of like this project can appear the seriously follow up us to international agreement in the section of prevention of hunting, illegal trade of life diversity, conservation of nature, ecosystem and management of conserved areas.

After that Sayed Rahman Zyarmal Representative of Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock talked about the importance and value of this project, Napilon Novaro Assistant of UNDP in Afghanistan about the circumstance of implementing of that.

Subsequently, Mr. Mujtaba Bashiri Snow leopards Project Manager from Wildlife Conservation Society and Mr. Ahmad Jamshid Khoshbeen Program Analyst from UNDP presented their presentations about structure, goal, objective, outcomes and result framework of this project.

During these presentations, all participants shared their ideas and suggestions about this project.

This project will implement in Wakhaan of Badakhshan by sponsoring of Global Environmental Facility (GEF) from Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and direct supervision of the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) in next three years
