Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Environmental Protection Agency and the Environmental volunteers Network

Shah Zaman Maiwandi, Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency, today (26 may 2021) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Abdul Hadi Achakzai, Director General of the Environmental volunteers Network.


The signing ceremony of this memorandum was attended by the heads and employees of this office and a large number of members of environmental volunteers and partner institutions of this network.


The purpose of signing this memorandum is to provide a healthy environment for all citizens of the country, to ensure the participation of civil society organizations in environmental protection and to establish a mechanism, to establish joint cooperation between this office and the network of environmental experts.


At the beginning of the ceremony, Shah Zaman Maiwandi, Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency, stressed the role of environmental institutions in protecting natural resources and the environment: water, air, soil and nature; The basic elements of human beings life, and if any of them are polluted, polluted and destroyed, human life will be endangered.


Mr. Maiwandi said: "The leadership of this department in the last few years has tried its best to eliminate the deficiencies in this department and in the field of attracting global financial aid, timely use of budget, attracting specialists, expanding green areas and planting seedlings, institution building We need to do effective work to adapt to climate change, expand protected areas, prevent deforestation and raise public awareness, but these actions are not enough given the challenges facing our environment.


Mr. Maiwandi emphasized that: If all the facilities are available to us, we will not achieve our goals without the cooperation of the people, scholars, environmental institutions and the media.


The Director General of the National Environmental Protection Agency stated: "We are trying to implement the provisions of this memorandum correctly in cooperation with the network of environmental volunteers in order to protect the environment"


Later, Ruhollah Ferdows, a member of the Environmental volunteer Network, provided information about the activities, functions and plans of this network since its establishment.


Then, Mr. Achakzai thanked the department for its constant cooperation with civil institutions, especially the network of environmental volunteers, and said: "There are 1362 members in this network, and 50 sub-institutions of this network are active in the field of environmental protection."


He added "By signing this memorandum, we can improve the functions and programs of this network by better planning by launching awareness programs and campaigns, in the field of environmental protection, pollution reduction and wildlife protection, effective and useful steps.


 


Seyed Meysam Ehsani, Public Awareness Advisor of the National Environmental Protection Agency, considers the lawsuits and activities of civil and environmental institutions and networks for almost two decades with the aim of eradicating corruption, good governance, rule of law and environmental protection.Emphasized the ongoing efforts and cooperation between the network of environmental volunteers, institutions and the leadership of government departments.


It should be noted that this memorandum is enshrined in 21 articles and is valid for 5 years between both parties.
